Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant is a professional, multi-skilled person dedicated to assisting in patient care management. The practitioner performs administrative and clinical duties and may manage emergency situations, facilities and or personnel. Competence in the field also requires that a medical assistant display professionalism, communicate effectively, and provide instruction to patients.

The Medical Assistant program is a one-year program that is designed to prepare students to work effectively in a physician’s office, medical records, or business office of a clinic or hospital. Upon completion of the required courses, the student will demonstrate proficiency in both front and back office procedures. Successful completion of the program leads to a Certificate of Achievement.

  • None*
    • *ALDH 82 must be taken and passed with a ‘C’ before being admitted to ALDH 82C.

MEDICAL ASSISTANT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Psych 110 Developmental Psychology
    • And either
      • BET 103 or BET 104 (Beginning Word Processing/Typing)

TOTAL PROGRAM UNITS = 23.5

Please note that this schedule is suggested. The only classes that have to be taken in succession are ALDH 82 (first pass this course with a grade ‘C’ or better), then enroll in ALDH 82C; the clinical portion of the program.
