Preceptor Workshop

Victor Valley College has recently received approval from ICEMA to facilitate a portion of the paramedic preceptor workshop with an online component, listed below are the instructions and the page links for completing the preceptor workshop.

Instructions for delivery of initial and / or lapsed preceptor status will be the following:

  • 4 hours (non-instructor based) pre-course work to be completed by the student prior to a mandatory class meeting at a predetermined date.(Content available on our website listed below)
  • 1 hour (non-instructor based) podcast presentation on CPPD-developed and approved content, including PowerPoint and audio. (Mp4 file downloadable through i-tunes or Quick time).
  • 3 hour (instructor based) classroom meeting (lecture / interactive) at a predetermined date, location, and time in which students participate in interactive discussion, small group exercises, program-specific information, and documentation requirements. The meeting will culminate in a comprehensive course evaluation and post-test regarding the podcast and classroom content.
  • Students will bring completed post-tests and evaluation tools to meeting for verification of pre-course work and credit for 5 non-instructor-based CE hours. The 3 hours of instructor-based meeting will complete the 8-hour total requirement for the initial preceptor.

Instructions for delivery of current / non-lapsed preceptors will be the following:

  • 1 hour (non-instructor based) podcast presentation on CPPD-developed and approved content, including PowerPoint and audio. (Mp4 file downloadable through i-tunes or Quick time).
  • 4 hours (non-instructor based) of course work to be completed by the student prior to their preceptor expiration date. (Content available on our website listed below). Reference materials provided by the NHTSA and CAEMSA websites.
  • Students must email (hendricksonb@vvc.edu or olesond@vvc.edu), fax [(760) 951-5861] or hand-deliver completed evaluations and post-tests to Victor Valley College - Department of Health Sciences & Public Safety - EMS Academies. VVC will submit the approved CE roster on a monthly basis to ICEMA. Students will receive a total of 5 hours of CE's only after verification of completion of coursework, thus satisfying the requirement for recurrent / non-lapsed preceptors.
