Victor Valley College is a member of the Southern California Foothills Consortium for Study Abroad. The Consortium is a cooperative venture among ten community college districts in partnership with the The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS). This partnership allows students to make normal progress toward their undergraduate degrees while utilizing foreign resources and cross-cultural experiences.
The Consortium offers two different programs, one in the fall semester ( London, England ) and one in the spring semester ( Salamanca, Spain ) both are in partnership with the American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) College Division. AIFS was founded in 1964 to provide opportunities for students and faculty to study and travel abroad. Since that time more than 1,000,000 have participated in AIFS programs. AIFS works closely with the Consortium to make necessary support arrangements. This support includes classroom facilities, housing, advising, special cultural and social events and student and faculty support. With AIFS coordinating these logistical and personnel services, students and faculty are free to pursue academic endeavors without concern for the complex and time-consuming practical arrangements a successful study abroad program demands.
Additionally, several short term courses are often offered for study abroad classes taught by Victor Valley College faculty. These classes are designed for participants to receive academic credit.
Whether courses are offered as part of extended semester abroad or as a shorter term programs, all courses are part of the Victor Valley College curriculum.
