High Desert Commitment | First Year Experience Programs

The High Desert Commitment is the first year experience program dedicated to providing support for students who assess in basic skills/developmental skills courses.

 

The High Desert Commitment is divided into two unique tracks.

 

Track A:

This track is designed to assist female students who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).  This track targets female students that are interested in transferring to the 4-year college/university in STEM majors and ultimately a career in the STEM field.

 

Track B:

This track is designed to assist non-STEM students who assess into basic skills/developmental courses and are interested in transferring to the 4-year college/university.

 

STEM majors:

Applied Science, Architecture, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Kinesiology, Math, Physical Science, Physics

 

Program Services:

Counseling, Student Support Network, Culturally Enriching Activities, Academic Success Workshops, University Tours, Book Assistance (up to $500 per semester), 2nd Year Assistance & Follow Up, Student Leadership Training/Opportunities, Linked Courses, Mentoring.
