9/11 10th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony: Sunday, September 11th, 2011

Victor Valley Paramedic Logo which includes a tribute to 9-11 and says, Let's RollYou are invited to a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony to honor the lives of the men and women who gave their lives on September 11, 2001 and to give recognition to those who today serve our communities and put themselves in harm's way on our behalf.

Victor Valley College faculty, staff & students along with fire, law enforcement, emergency rescue service representatives, military, and private citizens are hosting a “United We Stand” memorial ceremony and Public Safety Awareness Fare & VVC Nursing Student Blood Drive to commemorate the tenth anniversary of that horrifying day on Sunday, September 11, 2011.

The event will be hosted by the Associated Student Body and will take place at the Student Activities Center on the upper campus.  

A remembrance program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will feature readings, music, and memorial messages from community and student leaders.

In conjunction a Public Safety Awareness Fare (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) and VVC Nursing Student Blood Drive (9a.m. - 1 p.m.) will be held in the Student Activities Center.

The public is invited to come and share the morning's special tribute with our student leaders in honoring these fallen heroes.

Event Times:

7:00 a.m. - 8:15 a.m.
Uniformed VVC students representing EMS, Fire & Admin of Justice read the names of their 343 fallen brothers with a traditional bell ceremony & reading of a small passage.
8:30 a.m. Remembrance Program Begins with the Posting of Colors by Apple Valley Fire Protection District Honor Guard

9:30 a.m.
Remembrance Program Concludes with reposting of Colors and placement of wreaths & flowers at the 9/11 Monument* located in front of the Victor Valley College Library.

 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Public Awareness Fare** & Blood Drive***.

VVC Nursing Student Blood Drive

On September 11th, in honor of the 10-year anniversary of 9/11, Victor Valley College School of Nursing will be hosting a Blood Drive from 9 AM to 1 PM through Life Stream. The event will take place alongside the 9/11 ceremony scheduled for that day and will be set up in the area right outside the Ram's Bookstore.

Donors must be at least 15 years old, weight at least 110 lbs., be in good health, and are urged to drink plenty of water in the days prior to donating. In addition to the blood drive, nursing students will be hosting a fund-raising bake sale and raffle to help offset graduation costs. The raffle will include generous donations received from places such as Olive Garden, Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Company, Starbucks, Massage Envy Spa, 24 Hour Fitness, Ultra Star Cinemas, and more.
