My name is Marco Antonio Ruiz and I'm 25 years old. I've been a full time student at VVC for the past consecutive year and a half.  I was born in San Bernardino and that is where most of my family lives. Both of my parents were originally Mexican Citizens and they are now also U.S. Citizens. My parents moved us up to the High Desert when I was three years old. Since then, I've lived in Apple Valley for the majority of my life, although, when I was nineteen I moved to Long Beach, CA for 2 years. I've worked at several fast food places, a warehouse, Y.M.C.A, People with disabilities, and a few promotional jobs. Now I'm a full-time student who has decided to put work second. I don't have any kids but I am currently engaged to a beautiful Christian women. I'm one class away from applying for the nursing program here at the wonderful Victor Valley College. Also, I'm currently eligible for transfer but I've decided to turn down that opportunity to take advantage of the nursing program here at VVC. I believe there is so much untapped potential here at VVC and joining the ASB council has opened my eyes to the vast amount of opportunity available here on our community campus.

My ambition is to one day become a physician, but I have to give glory to God for redirecting my life. Unlike most kids I never had a dream of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I am a first generation college student and It has been a struggle for my family to appreciate the value of education. Thanks to my church and God I’ve had the strength to move forward in life and find hope. I gave my life to Jesus Christ in 2008 and I finally feel alive like never before. I’m a bible believing Christian and if you ever need any help I’m here for ya!
