BENEFITS INFORMATION
Health insurance is available for eligible regular Faculty and Classified Bargaining
Unit members as well as Management/Administrative/Confidential employees.

Plan Year – July 1 – June
30
Open Enrollment – Open
Enrollment begins typically in May for July 1 effective date. Information
is sent to
each eligible employee prior to Open
Enrollment.
Effective dates of coverage – a)
Coverage for newly eligible employees will begin on the first of the month
following the first day of eligible service.
b) Coverage ends at the end of the month in which your benefits-eligible employment
ends and COBRA takes effect the next day if elected by employee.

PAYROLL INFORMATION
OCCUPATIONAL ACCIDENT/INJURY/ILLNESS REPORTING
Job-related injury or illnesses. All injuries
or illness should be reported to the Payroll & Benefits
office within 24 hours whether or not medical care is desired.
RETIREMENT INFORMATION
All employees except student workers pay into a retirement system
- CalPERS, CalSTRS, or PARS.
CalSTRS - California State Teachers Retirement
A Defined Benefit Plan in combination with a supplemental benefits
plan, providing retirement and disability benefits. Requires
employee contribution of 8% of earnings, paid through payroll
deduction on a pre-tax basis. Annual statements are issued by
STRS in late fall.

CalPERS - California Public Employees Retirement System
A Defined Benefit Plan providing retirement and disability benefits.
Requires employee contribution of 7% of salary, paid through
payroll deduction on a pre-tax basis. This system coordinates
with Social Security. Annual statements are issued by PERS in
late fall.

PARS - Public Agency Retirement System
A Defined Contribution Plan providing alternative retirement
benefits for associate faculty and limited-term employees who
are not members of CalSTRS or CalPERS. Requires employee contribution
of 3.75% of salary, paid through payroll deduction on a pre-tax
basis.
