Victor Valley College, in
collaboration with Cal State San Bernardino University, Azusa Pacific
University, Cerro Coso Community College and the California Virtual
Campus Regional Center 4, Discovery Elementry School of the art, Green
Tree East Elementry School, Irwin Elementry School, Yucca Loma Elementry
School, Adelanto Elementry School, Westside Park Elementry School,
Apple Valley High School and Victor Union High School District plan
to develop a Teacher-Learning Center to encourage students to persue
a teaching career. Objectives will focus on the following for year
two:
- Recruitment and Retention
of students Pursuing a Career in Teaching.
- Partnership Development.
- Curriculum Development
and articulation.
- Improve Reading skills
of 75 elementry pupils.
- Faculty Development.
Activities focus on the
following: online recruitment, joint admission, teacher information
workshops, counseling, faculty development, financial aid, partner
development, joint curriculum development, tutoring, mentoring,
distance learning/online programs, internships and teacher online
technology training.
The target population
will focus on 150 students who are interested in pursuing a teaching
career. A special effort will be made to target underrepresented
students. Formative and summative evaluation will be tied to the
objectives. We plan to enroll 150 students, and expect 80% student
completion rate.
