Victor Valley College, in collaboration with Cal State San Bernardino University, Cerro Coso Community College and the California Virtual Campus Regional Center 4, Discovery Elementary School of the Arts, Green Tree East Elementary School, Irwin Elementary School, and Victor Union High School District plan to develop a Teacher Education Center to encourage students to pursue a teaching career. Objectives focus on:

-Recruitment and Retention of Students Pursuing a Career in Teaching
-Partnership Development
-Curriculum Development - Joint Educational Technology Certificate with Cal State San Bernardino
-Improve Reading skills of 75 elementary pupils
-Increase Transfer Rate through the Distributed Learning Network
-Educational Technology Preparation/Faculty Development

Activities focus on the following: online recruitment, joint admissions, teacher information workshops, consortium website, counseling, teacher professional development/faculty development, financial aid, partnership development, joint curriculum development, tutoring, mentoring, distance learning/online programs, internships, teacher online technology training, and online honors seminar involving teacher assistance.

The target population will focus on 150 students who are interested in pursing a teaching career. A special effort will be made to target underrepresented students. Formative and summative evaluation will be tied to the objectives. We plan to enroll 150 students, and expect 80% student completion rate.
