Victor Valley College proposes to develop a program to train students to become Clinical Laboratory Technicians and Biotechnology Technicians. Students will learn basic clinical laboratory techniques as well as newer advance technologies, such as polymerase chain reaction, electrophorus of proteins and nucleic acids, and gene splicing. Students will also learn some serological and cytological techniques. Funds will also be needed for equipment for the advanced technologies and sergilogical components of this program. Fund will also be needed to train faculty and staff in the use of the new equipment. We will focus on the following objectives:

1. Increase learning and competency of an initial cohort of 30 students through the development of a new certification program for clinical laboratory and biotechnology technicians.

2. Twelve faculty members in the Biology and Chemistry Departments will be trained in the use of the biotechnology equipment and will incorporate technology teaching strategies to advance learning in the classroom.
