Victor Valley
College proposes to improve the Fire Technology Program by providing
instructional equipment, curriculum development, and staff development
activities for the Rescue Systems and Fire Ground training that
is in compliance with the State Fire Training Office. The objectives
focus on the following:
1. Increase
fire fighting and rescue skills of 100 fire service students and
50 civilian students seeking a career in the fire service.
2. Ninety percent
(90%) of the 30 faculty members at Victor Valley College will complete
training and certification for instruction and use of the equipment.
3. Seventy percent
of 50 students will increase their learning in order to acquire
the specialized rescue training skills needed for state standards.
The activities
will consist of the following: instructional equipment acquisition,
curriculum revisions, coordination with State Fire Marshal's Office,
conducting fire fighting academies, training courses for faculty,
state certification of faculty training, coordination of training
with Staff Development Office, certification of student proficiency,
student course evaluation.
Formative and
summative evaluation will be tied to the completion of the objectives.
We plan enrollment for 150 students and expect program training
completion by 70% of students.
