Description:
Victor Valley College, in collaboration with the City of Victorville and the Victor Valley Transit Authority, has received an Environmental Justice Grant from the California Department of Transportation for $17,910 to address the transportation needs of the Victor Valley's underrepresented businesses, groups, shelters and individuals. The objectives of the grant are to create a High Desert Environmental Justice Planning League, and conduct a survey to create a transit oriented development plan to facilitate environmental justice in the High Desert.

Description: Victor Valley College (subcontractor), in collaboration with California State University,
San Bernardino (contractor), has received an award from the United States Department of Agriculture, Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service for the project entitled Recruitment and Retention of Students in Conservation Biology and Natural Resource Studies of $46,656. The term of the award is August 1, 2003 through July 31, 2006, with $15,552 allocated each year. Neville Slade, Department Chair, Agriculture and Natural Resources, will conduct outreach to local high schools and departments at Victor Valley College, support student research interns in the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and will meet the reporting requirements of this grant.
