Accreditation Themes

There are six themes of quality that pervade the Accreditation Standards. As you write, weave the themes into the standards. Preparation for the self study and completion of the Self Study Report under these integrated standards requires that attention be given to weaving these themes with responses given to the specific standards. Be sure to address both the themes and the standards in a coherent way that leads to assessment of institutional quality. The themes are as follows:

Spotlight on Standard IV: Leadership & Governance

The institution recognizes and utilizes the contributions of leadership throughout the organization for continuous improvement of the institution. Governance roles are designed to facilitate decisions that support student learning programs and services and improve institutional effectiveness, while acknowledging the designated responsibilities of the governing board and the chief administrator.

A. Decision-Making Roles and Processes
The institution recognizes that ethical and effective leadership throughout the organization enables the institution to identify institutional values, set and achieve goals, learn, and improve.

B. Board and Administrative Organization
In addition to the leadership of individuals and constituencies, institutions recognize the designated responsibilities of the governing board for setting policies and of the chief administrator for the effective operation of the institution. Multi-college districts/systems clearly define the organizational roles of the district/system and the colleges.

The Standard IV Team Members include the following:

Revision of Educational Master Plan Goals

As part of the revision process for the Mission Statement (http://mugsy.vvc.edu/techplan/missionStatement.htm) , we want to begin the process of revisiting the college wide goals, as listed in the current Educational Master Plan. The campus-wide goals should be directly linked to the Mission Statement; in other words, we should be focused on doing what we say we are intending to do.

As part of this campus wide review, you will find on this survey the current goals for your consideration. Please review each goal in light of the revised Mission Statement and indicate your preferred response by clicking the radio buttons labeled Keep, Delete, or Rewrite. You may rewrite any of these goals or create new goals in the space provided on the form. Please bear in mind that these goals should relate to the entire campus community, rather than being specific to one department or segment of the campus. The surveys will then be compiled and the input will be used as a report to the Master Plan Committee.  Survey deadline is November 21.

There are 7 goals that you will need to review, plus any goals that you want to add. When you are done entering the data on this page, please click the Next Page button. The last goal page will have a Submit Survey button, please click this button when you are satisfied with the survey data for the last page.

If you have any questions regarding the goals on this survey, please contact Tom Miller , or Fay Freeman . If you are having technical difficulties with this survey, please contact Paul Tonning.
