4.1B        Overall Goals For This Cluster

·     To respond to the diverse needs of the community, the Administration of Justice program should eventually become part of a Public Safety Division.  This Division should include Law Enforcement Training, Criminal Justice Studies, Correctional Officer Training, Fire Tech Training, Haz Mat Training, and perhaps EMT Training.  This Master Plan will outline the development of the Administration of Justice program as part of the larger Public Safety Division.

·     The Administration of Justice  program will seek to expand the current Reserve Academy Training into a complete Basic Academy format, per SB 786 which was signed into law on July 14, 1997.

·     The current Admin. of Justice certificate program will serve as the pre-requisite for any future Law Enforcement cadet wishing to enter a Law Enforcement skill center.  Successful completion of the skill center training will also qualify a person to become a full-time peace officer.

·     In the field of Corrections, this department will seek to expand the Corrections courses to satisfy the requirements of CPOST (Correctional Peace Officer Standards and Training).  The department will expand Correctional Academy courses in management and supervisory training.

·     The AJ department will go on-line via the Internet to provide AJ courses in Criminal Justice or Corrections to remote areas.

·     Law Enforcement Reserve Training will provide for the transition from Reserve to full-time Peace Officer.

·     We will offer PC 832 and the three Reserve Levels for training.

·     Have a dedicated Public Safety Center for Criminal Justice and Peace Officer Training.

·     Add AJ faculty, as needed, to support enrollment growth.
