Short Term: |
· Promote academic environment that allows for full participation by students desiring to enter the field of early childhood education. · Expand Child Development program to provide academic challenge with opportunities for field based learning. · Insure transferability of courses, certificates and degrees to CSU and UC systems. |

· Continued provision of academic environment that allows for full participation by students in early childhood education. · Support opportunities for field based learning. · Review and update articulation agreements between CSU and UC systems. |

4.11C Specific Goals, Objectives And Resource Needs For This Cluster |

Short Term Objectives: |
· Expand the full-time faculty, and thus, the frequency of course offerings, to meet the existing and anticipated demands for enrollment in the Child Development program. · Maintain dialogue with local high schools to insure program articulation. · Expand technology in the Child Development department as well as telecourse offerings to meet the needs of local and distance learners. |

· Instructor time to create an advanced practicum and an interdisciplinary Spanish course by June 1998 (paid for by grants). · Instructor time to create a series of specialization courses to meet permit requirements. · Instructor time to create a Family Child Care certificate by Fall, 1998, including a supervised practicum course specifically for Family Child Care providers and telecourses catering to the academic and logistical needs of early childhood professionals working in their home. · A Child Development Assistant to provide on-site mentoring services for Family Child Care providers. · Instructor time to research and write grant to fund the Child Development Assistant position. · Instructor time to outline and oversee development of Child Development web site. |
