Short Term:

·     Offer a comprehensive, flexible and easily accessible program of ESL courses and services at four venues.

GOAL #1:   Align ESL curriculum with California Adult Model Standards.
   

Short Term Objectives:  

·     Offer more staff development (teacher and tutor training) activities.

·     Implement effective course and teacher evaluation activities.

·     Conduct curriculum development activities.

Long Term Objectives:  

·     Conduct on-going evaluations of ESL curriculum and revise as needed.

Resources Required - Short Term:  

 

Personnel  

·     Additional full-time ESL teacher as needed for program growth.

·     Additional bilingual instructional aide to meet growth needs.

·     Additional computer technician as required by growth.

Facilities/Equipment  

·     Additional computer for office.

·     Scanner.

·     Printer.

·     LCD projection device.

·     Scantron machine.

·     Audio and video equipment.

Other Requirements  

·     Funds for professional development activities, equipment (such as an LCD projector), and resource materials for an ESL library.

·     Create new courses and revise existing courses in grammar, speaking and listening, writing, and reading.

·     Evaluate current courses by means of surveys and consultations with students, teachers, and instructional aides.

·     Locate stable venues for ESL classes in Adelanto and Apple Valley.

Long Term Objectives:  

·     Continue on-going evaluation of courses.

·     Develop distance-learning courses that allow students flexibility and evaluate on an on-going basis.
