Report on Water Damage Repairs
Tuesday evening, Director of Maintenance and Operations,
Steve Garcia reported to the Board of Trustees that water damage
clean up and repairs to the campus were about 75% complete. He
estimated the final cost to be in the neighborhood of $300,000
with completion in several weeks.
He further reported that electrical and air conditioning systems
had been repaired and power restored to all campus buildings.
Clean up of several building, including the Science Building,
was ahead
of schedule. The sports fields will be ready for play in time
for fall competition.
Garcia expressed great admiration for the work done by the maintenance
and operations, custodial, and grounds staffs to make repairs
and prepare the campus for the
fall semester.
Thank
You for a Job Well Done
I
would like to take this opportunity to once more thank all employees
for their extraordinary efforts throughout the complications
and crisis caused by water damage (details and photographs to
follow). Serving students has remained the priority, even though
employees suffered in the absence of air conditioning and electrical
power. Many staff members conducted their duties and responsibilities
while they were temporarily relocated to “high and dry” locations.
The
Maintenance & Operations and Grounds staffs are to be commended
for their tremendous work of returning our campus to its excellent
condition to welcome students on August 30.
Thank
you to each and every staff member for their extra efforts
and positive attitudes as we prepare for the fall semester.
