English classes at VVC and is working on her doctorate
at University of California Riverside.
"God, it's such an honor for
someone like me, who is a non-traditional student,
to be recognized by my own hometown," said Atkinson.
The theme of Atkinson's speech will be how to
enjoy the moment.
Graduates and their families

coordinator, Duane Buckles of Restaurant Management.
Refreshments are provided
free of charge. Flowers and gifts will be available
for purchase.
The walk through for graduates is
May 23 at 3 p.m. in the old gymnasium. Of the
965 people who applied for graduation, the valedictorians
are Jeanette L. Aguayo, Allison Leah Betts, Shellie
Kaye Callaway, David L. Dunton, Nancy Marie Gil
and Lindsey Louise Nettels. The salutatorian is
Penny Sue Wansten.
