the top 2.5 percent of all the school in attendance. On the website of the National Model United Nations, VVC is listed as the No. 1 school in the nation. “It was my first time going to the conference. It was a lifetime experience. You had to be there to feel it,” said Heena Mehra, team member with the VVCMUN. The accomplishment is even more appreciated due to the fact that out of the 13 members of the team, 10 were new to VVCMUN and three were returning members. “It was so surreal being there; it was exciting to win,” said Shaun Mayer, team member. Team members put much time and hard work into the cause. “We worked for about 10 hours a week for the winter and spring semester all the way to spring break,” said Kimberly Spaulding, another member. participate in VVCMUN often transfer to universities such as UC Berkeley or UCLA or go on to study abroad majoring in such things as political science or international law, according to Sharon Wright. “MUN is the only academic team at campus. It gives you an opportunity to compete at a national level. We compete against the best. It also looks really good to put in your resume,” said Mehra on why people should join VVCMUN. VVCMUN is a program that gets funded through donations from the community and individuals. VVCMUN has definitely shown its strength as a strong club and the team motto is “It was sick…Egh!” |
