The following data depicts Victor Valley College's student statistics for the Fall semester of 1999.
All data are based upon an overall, unduplicated headcount on the first day of first census.

Chart 1 illustrates that VVC credit students represent 90.3% of the overall student population whereas
non-credit students represent 9.7% of the student population.
Chart 2 reveals that females account for nearly two-thirds of the student population.
The two largest groups depicted in Chart 3 are 18-20 years of age (26.7%) and 31-40 years of age (18.2%).
Also of interest, the average age of students is 31.
In most age categories, females account for a higher percentage of students than males. For instance, 20.3%
of females in comparison to 14.6% of males are at or between the ages of 31 and 40. In contrast, males
(33.4%) show a higher percentage than females (22.9%) at or between the ages of 18 and 20.
As the findings in Chart 5 indicate, 43.4% of students are enrolled in credit courses during the day. This
is a larger percentage than students taking day and evening, credit courses and only evening credit courses
combined.
Chart 6 indicates that 44.9% of students are obtaining a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.
As indicated in Chart 7, 47.1% of the female population has earned a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better; whereas, 40.4% of the male
population has earned a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better.
Chart 8 depicts the various types of female students.
TYPE OF STUDENT Female
New student = A student enrolled in any college for the first time after high school and exclusive of summer term enrollment. 1,466
New transfer student = A student enrolled at VVC for the first time and who transferred from another institution of higher education. 342
Returning transfer student = A student who has previously attended VVC, transferred to another college, and has now returned to VVC. 124
Returning student = A student enrolled at VVC after an absence of one or more regular sessions without interim attendance at another college. 717
Continuing student = A student who is enrolled in the current session and who was enrolled in the previous regular session. 3,643
* A student who is enrolled in college yet continues to attend high school. The female count for this category is 272.

Male students by type are depicted in Chart 9.
TYPE OF STUDENT Male
New student = A student enrolled in any college for the first time after high school and exclusive of summer term enrollment. 1,147
New transfer student = A student enrolled at the reporting college for the first time and who transferred from another institution of higher education. 251
Returning transfer student = A student who has previously attended the reporting college, transferred to another college, and has now returned to the reporting college. 68
Returning student = A student enrolled at the reporting college after an absence of one or more regular sessions without interim attendance at another college. 359
Continuing student = A student who is enrolled in the current session and who was enrolled in the previous regular session. 1,769
* A student who is enrolled in college yet continues to attend high school. The male count for this category is 178.

Chart 10 illustrates that the largest unit category is 12-15, encompassing 26.4% of the student population.
Most categories reveal similar gender proportions as indicated in Chart 11. However, 12.1% of the female
population in comparison to only 5.5% of the male population are currently enrolled in non-credit courses (0.0 units).
Chart 12 depicts a large percentage (30.8%) of students taking a single class. This percentage is large because
of non-credit students. For example, in adding the percentage of students taking 0.0 and .5-3.0 units, the total
(29.7%) is very close to the percentage viewed for students taking one class.
Chart 13 indicates that both males and females are enrolling in a very similar manner.
The table below reveals the counts depicted graphically in Chart 14 above.
