What
do your assessment results mean?
To
prepare you for registration and to create a first semester program
of study, you first must know and understand what your math and
English assessment results mean. Knowing your skill level
in these academic areas is important so you may make informed
class choices and will be more likely to succeed.
The
English and math placement tests are our main source of information
in assessing your skill levels, but many other factors can and
will be taken into consideration when making placement recommendations.
If you have questions about your recommended course placements,
please consult with the counselor available in the Student Transition
Center.
When
you begin to look at classes to enroll in for the semester or
in the development of your educational plan, always keep in mind
your recommended English and math placement levels. If your
skill level is below college level, you will want to begin with
developmental English and math courses your first semester. Improving
your reading and writing at the outset will enhance your likelihood
of success in courses such as history or biology.
