Victor Valley College and its Community

Established in 1961, Victor Valley College is located 90 miles northeast of the City of Los Angeles, 33 miles south of the City of Barstow and 30 miles northwest of the San Bernardino County basin. Victor Valley College is proudly moving towards its 50th year of dutifully serving High Desert region students and is considered a “first choice” educational institution for 400,000 residents of the area.

Covering a geographic service area of approximately 1700 square miles, communities served by Victor Valley College include: Adelanto, Apple Valley, Helendale, Hesperia, Las Flores, Lucerne Valley, Oro Grande, Phelan, Pinon Hills, Victorville, Oak Hills and Wrightwood. Victor Valley College is recognized as a cultural gathering place and functions as the single most important source of higher education for the entire Victor Valley. Currently, the College has 14 feeder high schools and diploma granting educational institutions.

In November of 2008, voters passed a local bond measure to fulfill capital outlay projects for the College. Funds from the bond are utilized to update infrastructure and facilities. Moreover, it is anticipated that during the month of December 2011, the College will complete construction of a new regional Public Safety Training Center that will increase training opportunities for fire fighters, paramedics, administration of justice students and correctional officers. This Public Safety Training Center, in conjunction with land purchased for a third campus in the area, is just another example of how Victor Valley College continues to distinguish itself as a future-oriented educational institution.
