05-08-2007 : Teachers "R" Heroes: Honors Victor Valley College Instructor John Doyle

John Doyle - photoJohn Doyle, Allied Health Instructor at Victor Valley College , was selected by the “Teachers are Heroes” Program as its honored recipient for his classroom teaching excellence and after-class student assistance. Mr. Doyle, an instructor at the college for 20 years, also graduated from Victor Valley College .

The nomination essay submitted by a current student in Mr. Doyle's class stated, “Instructor John Doyle is a hero because he truly cares about students. Mr. Doyle takes time to help all students not just those enrolled in his assigned classes.

Mr. Doyle always finds time before and after class as well as on the weekends. He doesn't get paid extra.

Mr. Doyle makes sure that there is enough time for you to understand concepts. He is the most caring unselfish person I know. If he doesn't have an answer he doesn't give up until he finds the answer for you.

Mr. Doyle helps many people throughout the program. Some of us even had his home number that we could call if we were studying and had questions. This man is a true hero.”

The Teachers are Heroes Program honors one kindergarten through 14 teacher every month out of the nearly 7,000 teachers in the High Desert. Teachers are selected based on essays submitted to Clear Channel Radio stations and then reviewed by a panel of judges.

Honorees receive gift certificates for school supplies, a recognition plaque, and special treats for the classroom. At the end of the year, all twelve honorees and their students will be invited to an annual celebration held at Maverick Stadium.

“We are honoring teachers who go above and beyond, be it in the classroom, the school, or the community,” said Lori Kildal, Ph.D., Dean of Instruction at Victor Valley College.

    Teacher nominations may be submitted in the form of 500 words-or-less essays to www.KATCOUNTRY1007.com , www.Y102FM.com , www.TheFox106.com , www.Talk960.com, or www.vvc.edu.
