Valley College Hosts Community Open House Featuring Title V Labs
Victor Valley
College announced this week that it will host a community “Open House” Wednesday,
November 1, 2006 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. to preview Title
V labs which will be used to assist students in a variety
of subject areas. The open house will begin at the Student
Activities Center located on the upper campus. The open
house and subsequent tours will showcase learning labs
funded by grants secured by the college through the Hispanic
Serving Institutions Program. On the tours, the college
will introduce the community to facilities, software,
and technology dedicated to enhance English as a Second
Language, Math, Writing, and teacher learning skills.
A tour of these facilities will take place from 2:00 – 3:00
p.m. at the Humanities Complex on the lower campus of
the college on the corners of Fish Hatchery and Bear
Valley Roads.
These Title V labs feature state-of-the art equipment
and sophisticated software programs that will assist
in the development of students learning through mastery
of the subject. Included in the itinerary is a tour of
the Teacher/ Learning Center which offers teachers the
opportunity to learn how to effectively use technology
in the classroom.
