Be Ready to Enroll In Guidance 59:
Guidance 59 - Special Issues in Personal Development is a one unit 16 week class that focuses on the needs of Puente students. Guidance 59 will utilize guest speakers, group exercises and activities to explore a wide range of topics which will further develop students’ personal and academic development. Now Accepting Puente Program Applications for Fall 2011:
The process begins with all applicants filling out the online Student Intake Formwhich is the application for the program. After submitting the intake form you will need to attend one of the informational sessions (check the informational sessions flier for dates). Peer Mentors Needed:
The Puente Program is seeking committed individuals to provide mentorship and support to Puente students.
Qualified applicants will have a goal of transfer, be available to enroll in Guidance 66 and be willing to participate as a peer mentor for two semesters. Students interested in working in the fields of education or the social and behavioral sciences (e.g., counseling/psychology) are especially encouraged to apply.Please call (760) 245-4271, ext. 2629 for additional details.
Puente Scholarships Available (Deadline - May 31, 2011):
The purpose of Puente Scholarships/Awards is to recognize and encourage academic and personal excellence in Puente students. Eligibility requirements for the following scholarships/awards will be in the application. Please see Puente Coordinators regarding any questions you may have. Deadlines will be strictly enforced.
Transfer Scholarship - $500 - deadline is May 31, 2011
Pursuit of Excellence Scholarship - $250 - deadline is December 1, 2010 for Fall and May 31, 2011 for Spring
Rising Star Award - $125 - deadline is December 1, 2010 for Fall and May 31, 2011 for Spring
Humanitarian Award - $50 - deadline is December 1, 2010 for Fall and May 31, 2011 for Spring
