Blackboard Basics -
VVC Blackboard Victor
Valley College�s e-learning environment, provides students
with the opportunity to stay connected with their instructors
and classmates.
VVC Blackboard may
be a component of some or all of a student�s courses
as either a supplement to the course, as an element of
a hybrid course or as the structure for a completely
online course.
VVC Blackboard�s potential
features include receiving class material, checking grades,
online quizzes, virtual chat rooms and discussion boards.

Login to VVC Blackboard for Your First Time.
You
will need to complete three tasks.� They are:
1.
Add an email address to your account
2.
Change the password to your account
3.
Enroll in the class that you will be taking
Print
out this page and use it has a reference to complete enrolling
in a VVC Blackboard course.
- Open
your browser. (It is suggested that you use either, Microsoft�s
Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, or Netscape�s Navigator 4.0
or higher. VVC Blackboard does not currently support other
browsers, including AOL or Opera).
- Enter
the address http://bboc.vvc.edu in
the browsers address bar.� (Bookmark this page for future reference).� This
will take you to the gateway screen.
- On
the gateway screen please click on the Login button.
- In
the box under Username: enter
your username as your first initial, last name, and the last
four digits of your Social Security number (i.e.� Jane
Doe 555-00-1111 would be jdoe1111,
or Carlos del Valle
000006789 would be cdelvalle6789) without
any blank spaces.� This
will remain your username in VVC Blackboard.
- Enter
your password as your nine digit Social Security number (i.e.
555001111 or 000006789).� We suggest that you change your password
the first time that you login.
- You
should now be at your personal VVC Blackboard page. (You should
see Welcome, Jane! near the top of the
page.
- Click
on Personal Information under Tools.
- Click
on Edit Personal Information.� Add your email address under part one, then complete part 2 and click on
the Submit button
in the bottom right hand corner of the page.� Then
select OK on the
next screen.
- Now
click on Change Password.� In the password box please type your
password (it is case sensitive) then retype it in the Verify
Password box and click on the submit
button and choose OK and
then OK again.� This will return you to your personal
VVC Blackboard page.
- Click
on the Courses tab
under the VVC logo.
- Click
on the department listing of the class under the Course Catalog. Please
note that online courses may not be available for login until
the first day of classes.
- To
enroll in the class that you have registered for, click the enroll button to the right of your
class.
- You
will receive one of the following messages
- Receipt:
Failure
Your request for enrollment has been forwarded to the instructor(s). You
will be notified when the instructor processes your enrollment.� If you receive this message wait for
an email from the instructor to say that you have been enrolled in the
class.
- Receipt: Success
You have been successfully enrolled in CIS 1 - Computer Literacy (CIS1-Instructor_02X)
as jdoe1111. Click ok to continue. If you receive this message you
are now enrolled in the class.
- If you receive a message asking for an
access code to enroll you must email and receive it from
your instructor.
- Your
personal VVC Blackboard page will display all of the VVC Blackboard
classes that you are enrolled in on the right-hand side of
the screen.
