A Child Development background can open the doors to numerous career opportunities. Some entry-level preschool positions can be attained with as little as 12 units in Child Development and 50 days of related work experience. An AS Degree in Child Development provides the knowledge and skills needed to become a preschool teacher or transfer to a four year university to explore additional career opportunities which include, but are not limited to:  Site Supervisor for Early Childhood programs, Elementary School Teacher, Child Life Specialists, and Early Intervention/Special Education professionals.

Child development is one of few fields in which students can gain relevant work experience with as little as 12 units while they simultaneously continue their education.
