Victor Valley College recognizes the unique contribution that educational technology can make for expanding and enhancing educational opportunities and experiences to the district's growing and diverse student population. It is acknowledged that quality distance education make special demands on students, faculty, staff, and administrators and that all involved share responsibility for maintaining its effectiveness. VVC regards distance education as integral to the district vision, mission, and goals and endorses and encourages the development, expansion, and improvement of distance education methodologies throughout the district's instructional and student and campus support services and programs. At VVC, distance education includes courses that are offered fully online and partially online (hybrid).

  • DO I NEED TO BE DE CERTIFIED TO TEACH ONLINE?
    Yes, all faculty must complete DE certification to teach asynchronous, hybrid, or remote courses.

    You can complete VVC’s internal certification, submit an @ONE Online Teaching and Design Badge, or apply for equivalency. Details are available on the DE Certification page.

  • CAN I TAKE BOTH VVC'S DE CERTIFICATION AND @ONE’S TRAINING AT THE SAME TIME?
    It’s not recommended, as both courses are rigorous and require significant time commitment.

    You can submit a request for DE Instructor Equivalency form with supporting documents.

    All online courses must comply with ADA and Section 508 guidelines, ensuring content is accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. Compliance with WCAG 2.1 A levels are currently expected and AA compliance is required starting in 2027. WCAG 3.0 compliance is suggested.
