LVN to RN and Military applicants to the Victor Valley College Associate Degree Nursing program
Step 1
Complete all of the prerequisites for the Nursing program.
You can find all of the prerequisites HERE. NOTE: CLEP test results are not accepted.
Applicants will take a credit by exam against our Nursing Process 1. To take the credit by exam, you must have taken at least 12 units at Victor Valley College, have a GPA of 2.5 or better, and be currently enrolled. Per Admissions and Records, "Currently Enrolled" means taking or having taken a course during the same semester you are taking a credit by exam.
This is a College requirement, not a program requirement.
If you are applying based on licensure as an LVN, you will need to upload your current, unexpired license. This can be a current DCA license search printout.
If you have gone to another college or university, please make sure you forward your official transcripts to Victor Valley College. Please see our Admissions page for how to submit transcripts; https://www.vvc.edu/admissions-records. Please note: We cannot accept upper division coursework to meet prerequisites.
If you have specific questions about transferring coursework from other colleges or universities, please Email our Nursing Counselors a copy of your unofficial transcripts and your specific question. They can be reached at nursingcounselor@vvc.edu.
For LVNs that wish to apply under the 30 unit option (Title 16 CCR § 1429), please contact the Nursing office at 760-245-4271 ext. 2285. Our director of nursing will verify with you that you are not interested in having a degree nor working outside of California. LVNs applying under the 30 unit option will need to meet the same prerequisites as all other applicants except they do not need to submit coursework for Mathematics, Humanities, Kinesiology, or American Institutes. LVNs accepted will need to complete Nursing Process 3 and Nursing Process 4.
Step 2
Apply to our program during our application period.
To apply, you will need to upload several documents into your application.
-
You will need to upload your current LVN licensure (DCA results are valid)
-
You will need to upload your unofficial transcripts for all schools where you took your prerequisites for the nursing program. You will need to highlight your unofficial transcripts in yellow.
-
You will also need to make sure your official transcripts have been received by Admissions and Records. Please see the Admissions and Records page for contact details. We cannot give credit for transferred units, we need the original official transcripts showing coursework.
We review our LVN to RN and Military applicants the first month of the Spring semester and the first month of the Fall semester. If you qualify, our Assistant Director will contact you to take the TEAS test.

Step 3
When applying, review all items on your application before you submit. Once you submit, you can no longer edit your application.
Step 4
Applicants that have not taken the TEAS exam, you will take the current TEAS exam with our ADN applicants. Please see the RN main page for when the next TEAS exam will be offered. For study materials for the TEAS test, please go to ATItesting.com.
Step 5
Score a 70 or better on the TEAS exam.
Step 6
Our assistant Director will contact all applicants who pass the TEAS to invite you to do your credit by exam tests against our NURS 221. For applicants applying based on their qualifying military experience our Assistant Director will give you guidance if you will be able to challenge additional portions of our ADN program. PLEASE NOTE: If you do not take the Credit by Exam you will need to reapply. Placement is based on space availability for the course you place into.
