Dr. Douglas B. Houston serves as the Chancellor of the Yuba Community College District (YCCD), his second CEO position in the State of California. Dr. Houston's 34-year career has been in various leadership roles: as commander of various military units, as an administrator to several community colleges, as a Boy Scout leader, and in various leadership roles in his church and community. He currently serves on the California Community Colleges' Economic Development Policy Advisory Committee, the Boards of NextEd (the Sacramento area P-20 Council) and SACTO (the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization) and on the Advisory Committees for the U.C. Davis CANDEL and CSU Sacramento doctoral programs. Prior to coming to YCCD, Dr. Houston served as the Superintendent/President of Lassen College in Susanville California, successfully leading the College's accreditation and fiscal recovery. While in Susanville he initiated the development of the Lassen Educational Collaborative, a partnership of education, business and community to establish K-14 seamless transition and improve student success in rural Lassen County, and served on the Northern Rural Training and Employment Consortium / Workforce Investment Board and the Lassen Economic Development Council. |

Gary Whitfield has worked for Yosemite Community College District for the past 16 years in the positions of Business Manager, Interim Controller, and Chief Operations Officer and as Vice President at both colleges in the District. Gary served four years in the United States Marine Corps and when discharged attended Modesto Junior College and California State University, Stanislaus to earn a Bachelor of Arts, with a concentration in accounting. Gary has also worked as an Internal Auditor, a hospital Chief Accountant and City Administrator. |

Michael Carley recently took the position of Associate Director of Institutional Research and Reporting for the Kern Community College District, which includes Bakersfield College, Cerro Coso Community College, and Porterville College. For the prior thirteen years, he had served as the Director of Institutional Research at Porterville College since. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Fresno and his Master’s from Stanford University, both in Sociology. He also holds a certificate in program evaluation from the California State University, Fresno Center for Research, Evaluation, Assessment and Dissemination (CREAD). Mr. Carley came to Porterville College in 2000 after working for Sociometrics Corporation as a Research Associate. He has served on three comprehensive evaluation teams for ACCJC and this is his fifth time serving on a follow-up visit. |

Virginia Guleff is Vice-President of Education and Student Services and the Accreditation Liaison Officer for Mendocino College. Virginia has worked at the community college for 27 years, beginning as a tutor in 1986 at De Anza College and holding a variety of positions in the system, including a full-time tenured position as ESL / English instructor from 1996 – 2006 in the San Diego Community College District. Virginia came to Mendocino College in 2006 as Dean of Instruction and held that position for six years until becoming Vice-President in 2012. Virginia earned both a B.A. and an M.A. in Linguistics and is the co-author of two ESL textbooks. As an accreditation team member, Virginia typically serves on Standard II, either acting as a chair of the Standard or as a writer on Standards IIa / IIb. She is currently coordinating the Self-Evaluation at her own campus in preparation for their March 2014 visit. |
