2020 Trustee Redistricting Meetings and Public Hearings

February 8, 2022 at 6:00 p.m.

The Victor Valley Community College District Board of Trustees will vote on Resolution No. 22-04 realignment of Trustee Areas for Victor Valley Community College District Board Members based on the 2020 Census Pursuant to Education Code 5019.5.

The District must adopt revised maps pursuant to Education Code section 5019.5 and provide to the County Registrar of Voters and the County Office of Education by February 28, 2022.

Victor Valley Community College District (VVCCD) holds fourth public hearing on Redistricting Draft Maps for Stakeholder Input 

Victor Valley College Board of Trustees is holding a series of public hearings to for the process of redrawing trustee area lines and is inviting all interested parties to participate. The fourth public hearing takes place on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at approx. 6:30pm. The Meeting will be held via Zoom and in person on the 2nd floor in the VVC Student Activities Center, Building 44.

Governing Boards of community college districts are required, by the end of February 2022, to adjust the boundaries of any or all of the trustee areas by using census population figures from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Census Bureau decennial census of the country’s population conducted in 2020 and validated by the Population Research Unit of the California Department of Finance. Any district in which governing board members are elected by trustee area is subject to mandatory redistricting pursuant to Education Code 5019.5.1. Lines must be redrawn to adjust for population changes that have occurred since the last redistricting to ensure that each trustee area has equal population to maintain “one-person, one-vote.”
