When Dave Hoover was announced as the new Head Football Coach at Victor Valley College in 2000, the football program entered an era of unprecedented success. Coach Hoover has become the all-time wins leader, and virtually every school record holder has come in his tenure. He has guided the Rams to the first two bowl games in school history, and possesses the best single season record (10-0) of all-time Rams football teams. Four athletes have reached All-American status under coach, and twelve have made the All-State team.

With all that said, coach believes he is just getting started.

Coach Hoover has had many individual athletes achieve state and national recognition, as well as both offensive and defensive units ranking amongst the top in the state. His 2006 defense, led by defensive coordinator Dale Bunn, was the top defense in the state. The Rams have been an offensive power throughout Hoover's tenure, including the 2008 season in which VVC has the 4th ranked offense in all of the the SCFA.  His goal to to get every high school senior from the high desert to attend VVC and play football.  In 2014 the 21 high desert players chose VVC and the rams went undefeated.

Highlights from Coach Hoover's career include two Metro League Championships while at Pasadena City College, a PCAA and California Bowl Championship while at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, and a National Championship while at the University of Massachusetts. Hoover has coached three Division One All Americans, and currently has two linemen starting in the NFL. L.J. Shelton, whom Hoover coached at Eastern Michigan University, was a 1st round draft pick of the Arizona Cardinals. Ickey Woods of UNLV and Marcell Shipp of UMass both were among the leading rushers in the nation behind Hoover-coached lines.

It has taken some time, but Coach Hoover believes that Rams Football is ready to step into state and national prominence. They have been knocking at the door, and this 2014 season the Rams finished 24th in the country in the JCfootball.com poll.
