Wireless Access for VVC Faculty, Staff, Students, and Guest

 

Wireless Account Access 

VVC offers free wireless access for all faculty, staff and students who chose to log in on their own laptops, tablets or other devices.

The Information Technology Services Department is in the process of upgrading Wi-Fi coverage on the Main campus and other teaching sites. Heat maps of each building depict current Wi-Fi coverage.

Depending on your status, you can access one of three secure Wi-Fi networks (SSIDs):

  1. Staff and Faculty can connect using VVC-Staff
  2. Students can connect using VVC-Student
  3. Guest can connect using VVC-Guest

The process for connecting to VVC-Staff or VVC-Student is similar. Use your VVC WebAdvisor username and password to log in. The detailed steps to log in vary depending upon your device and operating system. Connecting using iOS and Android Operating Systems are shown below.

iOS Instructions

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.  
  2. Tap the name of the secure Wi-Fi network you want to join, VVC-Staff, VVC-Student or VVC-Guest.
  3. Enter your VVC mail password for the secure Wi-Fi network, then tap Join.
  4. If you are presented with security certificate from “Clearpass,” select “Trust.” After the first time, this step will not be necessary.

After you join the network, you'll see next to the network and  in the upper-left side of your display or the upper-right corner on an iPhone X and later If you are unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network, contact the Service Desk at (760) 372-7500 or at servicedesk@vvc.edu.

 

Android Instructions

  1. Press the Home button. Press the Apps button and go to Settings
  2. Under “Wireless and Settings” make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.
  3. Press “Wi-Fi” to scan for networks.
  4. Select the secure Wi-Fi network you want to join, VVC-Staff, VVC-Student or VVC-Guest.
  5. Enter your VVC mail password for the secure Wi-Fi network, then press Connect.
  6. If you are presented with security certificate from “Clearpass,” select “Trust.” After the first time, this step will not be necessary.
