Why was I selected?

Victor Valley College (VVC) was selected as a participant in two studies being conducted statewide in February and March of Spring 2013. As part of the process, the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIER) created a random sample of students for both studies. You are receiving emails because you were selected in the random sample for one or more of the following studies:

  • CCC 2012 Fall Semester Distance Education Student Satisfaction Survey
  • ECAR Study of Undergraduate Students and Technology, 2013

How will this information be used?

VVC is excited about this opportunity and we look forward to learning more about how we can improve students’ experiences with information technology. The information gathered from this survey will be used for technology planning. This includes planning efforts focusing on future technologies, equipment and support for these technologies, and the enhancement of the student experience while using new technology. When the study has come to a close results can be found on our Reports page under 'Surveys on Campus'.

Who do I contact if I have questions?

The first study is specific to online courses and is titled “CCC 2012 Fall Semester Distance Education Student Satisfaction Survey” conducted by LeBaron Woodyard, Dean of Academic Affairs, at the California Community College Chancellor’s Office. For more information on this study, please contact LeBaron Woodyard at lwoodyar@cccco.edu.

The second study is devoted to the topic of technologies used campus-wide. The title of this study is “ECAR Study of Undergraduate Students and Technology, 2013” and the primary investigator is Eden Dahlstrom, Educause Center for Applied Research (ECAR) Senior Research Analyst. You can reach Eden at edahlstrom@educause.edu or EDUCAUSE at ecarsurvey@educause.edu.

Any additional questions can be forwarded to Mark Clair, Institutional Research Coordinator, at mark.clair@vvc.edu.

We encourage you to participate

The web-based surveys should only take about 20 minutes each. Your responses will be kept confidential and results will be presented in aggregate form only.
