As One I Can - event poster"As One I Can" is an event to motivate and inspire individuals to act and react to the needs within their community. It will appeal to those who already volunteer by sharing information about a variety of resources already established in our High Desert. It will appeal to those who have the time, talent and energy and may be looking for a cause to volunteer for. It will appeal to those who have recognized a need in their community that must be or should be addressed and are looking for the answers as to how the needs may be met.

The award-winning documentary "A Powerful Noise" (http://www.apowerfulnoise.org/) will be viewed at the beginning of the event. The stories of three women in three diverse parts of the world will inspire, encourage and challenge those viewing and motivate them with an energy to move forward as a volunteer or as an organizer. After the movie there will be a panel discussion by three members of our High Desert community that have seen needs and moved to address those needs. Julie Norton - President of The Phoenix Foundation, Regina Weatherspoon-Bell - President of Saving Our Sons and Valerie Smith - Director of the Paul Swick Family Center will share their stories, methods and means. A question and answer segment with the audience will close the evening.

Many High Desert not for profit organizations will be represented in the lobby to provide a resource to those attending. "A Powerful Noise" can be raised by an individual realizing, "As One I Can" do what needs to be done. And once begun, the impact and inspiration will move others to act and make a positive difference in our community.
