The cornerstone of the department remains our Computer-Aided-Drafting & Design (CADD) program. There are five new certificates that have been designed to meet the needs of students new to the field of CADD and those experienced professionals looking to upgrade their software knowledge. The Autodesk Suite of software programs are taught. Including AutoCAD, Architectural Desktop, Land Development Desktop, and Inventor. A core certificate is offered for students with a limited knowledge of drafting, mathematics and blueprint reading. (Drafting Technician I) Two entry- level certificates are offered in the areas of CADD and Computer Animation. We have also included three specialized certificates in the areas of Architectural CADD, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and Civil CADD.

The CIDG Department also offers a great selection of 3D Animation courses designed for individuals seeking training and experience utilizing high-end, 3D computer animation techniques and software.  Classes are designed for both beginners, as well as more advanced students.  Each course curriculum is geared toward individuals interested in creating video games, broadcast commercials, product visualizations, animated logos, 3D website graphics, and film-based animation and special effects.  Students learn essential techniques and disciplines for producing professional quality work, with each class built around a series of simulated problem-solving projects similar to those that one would encounter in a real-world production environment.  Individuals can earn certification as evidence of their efforts by successfully completing a series of pre-determined courses.  Dedicated graduate students will possess entry-level skills designed to position them for jobs such as 3D modeler, character animator, game level designer, texture artist, lighting design technician, effects artist and many other exciting career opportunities.  3D Animation classes at the college are also available through the Media Arts (Mert) Department.

A third program within the CIDG Department is our Visual Communications and Graphic Arts Program. This program has seven courses, two certificates, a dedicated computer lab with a quality plotter, printer and two scanners as well as the latest software used by professionals. We offer courses covering such software as the Adobe Suite of programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, DirectorFlash, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver for web page design.

Our dedicated and resourceful faculty is fortunate to be complimented by a very supportive staff and administration. We welcome you to the Computer Integrated Design and Graphics (CIDG) Department and Victor Valley College.
