Celebrate Math

During the year, student and faculty collaboration will take place beyond the classroom. Every year, the Math Department celebrates two very special events, Pi Day on March 14th and Tau Day on June 28th.

 (Pi) is a mathematical reference, it represents the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximated at 3.14.

Pi and Tau Day 2017

Students, Staff, Faculty, and Administrators joined us on March 14, 2017 to celebrate Pi Day. The event was a success with over 250 students participating in the wonderful games and contests! By popular demand, Tau Day was celebrated on June 28, 2017, where over 300 students joined in on the games, contests, fun, and treats! We are very excited to see so much participation and look forward to the upcoming events!

 

Talk Like a Pi-Rate Day 2017

Staff, Faculty, Administration, and Students joined together on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 to celebrate Talk Like a Pi-Rate Day at Victor Valley College. Contests were held on who could recite the most digits of Pi. Students were awarded with a variety of prizes. Overall, the event was a successful turnout because we had so many students who attended and participated in the activities of the event. Be sure to keep a lookout for the next event!!!!
