(San Francisco, CA) – On Saturday June 21, 2013 and Sunday June 22, 2014 many of the Victor Valley Players and coaches took some time to travel to San Francisco, Ca to assist Colin Kapernick with his annual youth skills camp.  413 children aging from 6-14, from all over the state of California attended his annual camp to aid with Make–a-Wish project and the Wounded Warriors Foundation.

Victor Valley College players Paul Mroz, Nick Kosik, Charles Taylor, as well as former players Jacob Tizzard (Delaware State), Charles Mouton (Tennessee Tech) and a few members of the coaching staff drove over 500 miles and dedicated their entire weekend to this wonderful event in the Bay Area.  They instructed the campers on the importance of dedication, school and various football drills and even prepared lunch for the campers.  “The camp would have not been a success without the players and coaches from Victor Valley College, these guys traveled eight hours to get here to be assist with the children, what’s impressive to me is not only their dedication but the energy they brought here to ensure the campers got instruction” Colin Kapernick stated at his press conference on Saturday morning.  Pro Camps Worldwide CEO Rob Huber added “Coach Espo always brings the best instructors with exceptional energy levels to our camps.  I would like to thank him, Mike Hoover, Justin Kosik and Eric Wilkinson, along with the entire Victor Valley College Administration for letting us work with their great student-athletes, it must be a pleasure to work with these individuals on a daily basis”.

The Rams will open on the season on September 6, 2013 and will travel to West LA College.

VVC PLAYERS ASSIST IN LEINART/RIVERS MILITARY CAMP                                            hm

 

(July 22, 2013; Port Hueneme, CA) – On Saturday July 20, 2013 several players and coaches took a day off and donated their time to the Matt Leinart/Keith Rivers Military Football Camp in Port Hueneme Naval Base in Port Hueneme, California. The camp was rewarded to children of military personnel that have one parent oversees currently and was free to all participants. 75 children attended the camp that was sponsored by Proctor and Gamble and Pro Camps Worldwide; spent the day with Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart and current New York Giant Linebacker Keith Rivers.

Victor Valley College players Bing Lin, Herman Smith IV, Jacob Tizzard, Jimmy Musgrave and a few members of the coaching staff dedicated their entire Saturday to the children of this event. They instructed the campers on the importance of dedication, school and various football drills and even prepared lunch for the campers. “It is truly amazing to see college football players helping us at this function, they can be anywhere today and they chose to come here and help this great cause”, commented 2004 Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart. New York Giants Linebacker Keith Rivers added, “The players and coaches from Victor Valley College really added a special touch to this day and are exceptional young men, their energy level with the children was top notch, I am going to have to follow them this season and wish them all the best”.
