Biography

Steve Coultas has been a part-time instructor at Victor Valley College since 1994 and a full-time instructor since Spring 2016. He has been in the automotive industry since 1978 and a full time professional technician since 1983. He has been self-employed for 26 years of his automotive career and is currently owner of a local repair shop in Hesperia. His passion for the automotive industry started as a part-time, after school job in high school and he soon realized that this was the career path that he wanted to follow. Specializing in Smog inspection and repair, tune-up and runability, and electrical diagnosis led him into a part-time instructional position at VVC teaching the California Smog program Clean Air Car Course.  Since then he has instructed numerous courses including ASE alternatives, Electrical Diagnosis and Repair, and the newest addition to VVC's alternative fuels and propulsion program- Hybrid Vehicle Service and Repair. His 35 years of trade experience and expertise as a technician carries over into his instruction as his hands-on instructional style is integrated into his classes as he strives to "give back to the industry that has been so fulfilling to me". He is continually updating and researching new technology that can be integrated into VVC's cutting edge Automotive program so that we can offer students the most current education possible.
