VVC Biology Club

Our Purpose

The VVC Biology Club has several goals: to provide students with learning experiences in the natural environment, to give students opportunities to communicate with real biologists in the field, classroom, and lab, and to serve the VVC campus community.

What We Do

The VVC Biology Club sponsors events such as field trips and biologist guest speakers. All VVC students are welcome to attend.

Upcoming Field Trips

There are no upcoming trips planned, as the club does not meet during the summer; However, the club plans two to four field trips each semester.  The locations vary widely, depending on the interests of club members.

Past Field Trips

The club has hiked to Gray's Peak in the San Bernardino Mountains, and we also toured the UC Irvine Medical Center dialysis unit.  Trips in previous semesters have included excursions to:

  • Death Valley National Park
  • Leo Carillo State Park
  • Mojave Narrows Regional Park
  • La Brea Tar Pits
  • The San Diego & L. A. Zoos
  • Mitchell Caverns
  • Kelso Sand Dunes,
  • and many other areas.
  • We have also volunteered for the Catalina Islands Conservancy, building trails, picnic tables, and working in their native plant garden.

Fund-raising events

The VVC Biology Club sells VVC Bio Club wristbands for $2.00 each to raise money for club outings and service projects.

Meetings

The Biology Club meets every Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in Building 31 (Science Building), Room 11 *(sometimes Room 9)*.
