Apprenticeship Programs at Victor Valley College
Victor Valley College is proud to offer a diverse range of apprenticeship programs that combine academic instruction with hands-on and/or paid work experience. These programs are designed to provide students and workforce professionals with pathways to high-demand careers while supporting local industry partners.

 

Registered Nursing Apprenticeship Program

The Registered Nursing Apprenticeship Program at Victor Valley College is an accredited associate degree program that prepares students for a rewarding career as a Registered Nurse (RN). Combining academic excellence with hands-on clinical training, the program equips apprentices with the skills and experience needed to thrive in a variety of healthcare settings.

  • Purpose: Prepares RN apprentices to complete the Victor Valley College RN Program and successfully pass the NCLEX-RN exam, leading to employment as a nurse with a partner hospital.
  • Benefits: Apprentices receive full coverage of tuition and fees for the duration of the program and a contingent job offer from a partnering hospital upon program completion.
  • Pre-Requisites: Must be admitted into the School of Nursing.
  • Courses: NURS 221, NURS 222, NURS 223, NURS 224.
  • Post-Requirements: Must pass NCLEX-RN exam.
  • Employer Partners: Desert Valley Hospital, St. Mary Medical Center, Victor Valley Global Medical Center.

 


 

Electronics Technician Apprenticeship Program (ETAP)

The Electronics Technician Apprenticeship Program (ETAP) at Victor Valley College offers a specialized, Department of Labor-registered pathway for individuals seeking careers in electronics and avionics. This hybrid program combines online coursework with paid, on-the-job training, offering both technical education and real-world experience.

  • Purpose: Provides current employees of General Atomics with the training required to advance into electronics and avionics technician roles.
  • Benefits: Enables employers to upskill their existing workforce, support career advancement, and promote retention without the cost of independently staffing and facilitating technical training.
  • Courses: ELCT 131, ELCT 132, ELCT 71, ELCT 73, CIS 190.
  • Employer Partner: General Atomics

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (IMM) Apprenticeship Program

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (IMM) Apprenticeship Program at Victor Valley College prepares students for high-demand careers in industrial maintenance. Registered with the Department of Labor, this program blends classroom instruction with paid, hands-on training in industrial environments.

  • Purpose: Designed to help employer partners upskill their current workforce in mechanical, electrical, and maintenance systems.
  • Benefits: Offers employers a cost-effective solution to train staff in advanced maintenance skills, support career advancement, and promote retention without incurring additional staffing or training infrastructure costs. 
  • Courses: IMM Period #2, IMM Period #3.
  • Employer Partners: Mitsubishi Cement, Rio Tinto, CEMEX, Exquadrum, Church & Dwight and more.

Construction Apprenticeship Readiness Program

Victor Valley College's Construction Apprenticeship Readiness Program, based on the nationally recognized Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3), introduces students to careers in the construction trades. Developed by TradesFutures (formerly NABTU), this program serves as a pre-apprenticeship pathway, particularly for students with little to no prior experience in the trades.

  • Purpose: Provides foundational exposure to key areas of construction such as framing, welding, electrical, plumbing, roofing, heavy equipment operation, and more.
  • Benefits: Connects students with career opportunities through industry field trips, hands-on projects, and presentations from union representatives.
  • Courses: CT90, CT91, CPR Certification, OSHA 10 Certification.
  • Employer Partners: Building & Construction Trades Council of San Bernardino & Riverside Counties.
    • Union Affiliations: IBEW, Plumbers & Pipefitters, Cement Masons, Operating Engineers, Sheet Metal Workers, Teamsters, Iron Workers, Carpenters, and more.

Community Health Worker (CHW) Apprenticeship Program

Victor Valley College’s Community Health Worker (CHW) Apprenticeship Program offers a unique opportunity to launch or advance a career in community health through a structured, hands-on learning experience. Registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, this program combines classroom instruction with paid, on-the-job training—preparing participants for high-demand roles in community-based healthcare and support services.

  • Purpose: Can be implemented for existing employees/upskills, and/or students seeking employment opportunities with a healthcare partners or community organizations.
  • Benefits: Offers employers a cost-effective solution to train staff in essential community health competencies, support career advancement, and promote retention without additional staffing or training infrastructure costs.
  • Courses: HLTH 0108 and HLTH 0109 are both non-credit courses; These are CHW parts 1 and 2 and are designed to build core competencies in community outreach, patient education, healthcare navigation, and cultural competency.
  • Employer Partners: We are currently seeking to reactivate and expand our network of employer partners. Organizations interested in hosting apprentices or collaborating with Victor Valley College are encouraged to contact us to explore partnership opportunities.
