What does ACCESS do?
Victor Valley College ACCESS Resource Center helps students with disabilities succeed in college. We provide support so students can fully participate in classes, become more independent, and reach their educational and career goals.
ACCESS works one-on-one with eligible students to identify barriers that may affect learning and arrange reasonable accommodations and services. Our goal is to help students receive the same quality education as other students, while recognizing each student’s strengths and abilities.
Eligibility Requirements
To determine eligibility for services, we may ask for documentation that describes your disability and how it impacts you in an educational setting. You must also have an active VVC student ID.
Examples of acceptable documentation include (but are not limited to):
School Plans
- IEP (Individualized Education Program) and/or 504 Plan
Vision Disabilities
- Eye exam or report from an optometrist or ophthalmologist
Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Audiogram/Hearing test result from an audiologist (or another qualified provider)
Psychological/Mental Health Disabilities
- Letter or evaluation from a licensed psychologist, psychiatrist, or other qualified mental health professional
Learning Disability
- Psychoeducational evaluation or other LD assessment (including scores)
If you do not have any documentation, complete the Disability Verification Form by having your provider fill it out.
If you believe you have a learning disability (LD), but have not been tested, we offer LD testing during the Summer and Winter terms. For more information, review the LD testing process guide.
