One-Year Registration — Student FAQ

General Information

Q: What is One-Year Registration?

A: One-Year Registration is a new program at Victor Valley College that allows students to register for classes across an entire academic year in a single registration window. Instead of registering term by term, you can lock in your schedule for Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring all at once. Register in your MyVVC student portal.

Q: When does this program start?

A: The One-Year Registration program launches April 27 2026. Starting that month, eligible students can register for all four terms of the 2026–2027 academic year in one session.

Q: Which terms are included in the One-Year Registration window?

A: The window covers all four terms of the academic year:

  • Summer 2026
  • Fall 2026
  • Winter 2027
  • Spring 2027

Q: Does the registration window reset?

A: Yes. The annual registration window resets every April. Each year in April, a new window opens for the upcoming academic year’s four terms.

Eligibility & Enrollment

Q: Who is eligible to use One-Year Registration?

A: All currently enrolled VVC students are eligible to participate in One-Year Registration beginning April 2026. Contact the Admissions & Records office if you have questions about your specific eligibility status.

Q: Do I have to register for all four terms at once?

A: No. You are not required to register for all four terms. You may choose to register for one, two, three, or all four terms during the open window. The benefit is simply that the option to register for any or all terms is available to you at the same time.

Q: What if I’m a new student starting in the fall?

A: New students who complete orientation and assessment before the May window opens may be eligible to register during that cycle. New students who enroll after the window opens should contact Admissions & Records for guidance on next steps.

Managing Your Registration

Q: Can I add or drop classes after I’ve registered for future terms?

A: Yes. Registering during the One-Year window does not lock you in permanently. You can add, drop, or swap classes for future terms subject to normal add/drop deadlines and policies for each individual term.

Q: What happens if a class I registered for gets cancelled?

A: If a class is cancelled by the college, you will be notified and given the opportunity to enroll in an alternative section or receive a full refund for that course if fees have already been paid.

Q: Will my financial aid be affected by registering for future terms early?

A: Registering early for future terms should not negatively affect your financial aid. However, financial aid disbursements are still processed on a per-term basis according to your enrollment status at the time of disbursement. Contact the Financial Aid office for guidance specific to your situation.

Q: What if my plans change and I no longer want to attend a future term?

A: You can drop all classes for a future term before the term’s refund deadline without academic penalty. Be sure to review the refund and withdrawal deadlines for each term carefully.

Fees & Financial Aid

Q: When are fees due for future terms I register for now?

A: Fee payment deadlines follow each term’s individual schedule, not your registration date. Registering in April for Spring 2027 does not mean Spring 2027 fees are due in April. Watch for fee payment deadline notices for each term.

Q: Will I lose my classes if I don’t pay fees immediately?

A: Classes may be dropped for non-payment according to each term’s fee payment deadline. It is important to monitor your student account and pay fees by the posted deadline for each term to avoid being dropped.

Tips for Success

Q: What should I do before my registration appointment?

A: To make the most of your One-Year Registration window:

  • Meet with a counselor to create a Student Education Plan (SEP) covering all four terms
  • Review degree or transfer requirements to ensure your course selections are on track
  • Check prerequisite requirements for all courses you plan to register for
  • Note any holds on your account (financial, library, etc.) and resolve them before your appointment

Q: Where can I get help planning my courses for the full year?

A: The VVC Counseling Department is your best resource. Counselors can help you build a comprehensive year-long plan aligned with your educational goals. You can schedule an appointment through the VVC website or visit the counseling center in person.
