Students enrolled in Horticulture courses at VVC are provided an introduction to plant science. Students learn: plant physiology, plant reproduction and propagation; effects of soil, water, and climate; use of plants to meet human needs; sustainable horticultural practices; integrated pest management; the role of new technologies in contemporary plant science. Application to Mojave Desert issues and to careers in Horticulture, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management and Restoration Ecology are emphasized.
