INTEREST FORM - NOT A WAITLIST

If you are interested in an exciting career in the cosmetology industry, Victor Valley College will be offering cosmetology training at low cost (required tools and materials only.)

PROGRAMS OFFERED:

COSMETOLOGY:

Our next group has a start date of April 21, 2025. It is our most desired program, so the waitlist for each class almost always fills up. The next start date after this term will be October 20th, and registration for that class is not yet open. This program consists of 4 hours in person, Monday - Friday, and online work to total 1000 hours before you can receive your Proof of Training to send to the state. Students finish this course in 8 months.

While you are waiting for those courses to open, please take the prerequisite class for all programs, COSM 0100 Health and Safety. This class is required before anyone can attend an in-person course and can be taken any time, not just right before you start in person.

Once you have completed COSM 0100, you will register for the appropriate program you are interested in. To register for the Cosmetology Program, you only need to register for COSM 0101.

MANICURING:

Manicuring is a two part course which includes COSM 0201A and 0201 B. When registering for this course, you only need to register for 0201A, as you will be automatically enrolled in 0201B as you take 0201A. The next available class you can register for is COSM 0201A-30000, with a start date of May 5, 2025. We still have room in that course if you are interested. You must have already taken the prerequisite class for all programs, COSM 0100 Health and Safety. This class is required before anyone can attend an in-person course and can be taken any time, not just right before you start in person.

The in-person Manicuring classes will follow the following schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 1:50pm. Student fees will be assessed when students register for COSM-0101. There is also online work required for this program to total 400 hours to receive your Proof of Training for the state. This program is complete is 14 weeks.

ESTHETICIAN:

We start our first group of esthetician students February 18, 2025. That class is from 2:00-8:15pm, Monday-Friday. We are excited to expand our programs to include this course, and look forward to meeting those interested in promoting skin care. Esthetician is a 600 hour program which includes classroom time and online work. Students finish this program in one semester.

This course is 200 hours of additional training in shaving, scalp treatment, etc. which will qualify the student to sit for the Barbering State Board Exam. This class is from 8:00am - 12:15pm, Monday-Friday and lasts 8 weeks.

You can pursue a career in nail artistry (a salon manicurist/pedicurist, freelance nail technician, or a specialized/highly technical nail artist). The makeup industry offers careers in makeup application (general makeup artistry working in a beauty salon or department store, freelance, social media artistry specializing in makeup-related content, brand-endorsed makeup artistry, project and personality makeup artistry). A career in skincare is another route you can take (salon or spa esthetician, freelance, brand representative promoting skin care lines or treatments, specialty skin care techniques such as eyelash extensions or hair removal).

  • What career opportunities will I have with a barbering license?

    • The barbering course is dedicated to the craft of haircutting and styling, the art of shaving using different methods, as well as hair color and other chemical services such as relaxers and perms. **VVC does not currently have a tentative start schedule for this course.

  • What career opportunities will I have with an esthetician license?

    • An esthetician license allows you specialized training in all aspects of the esthetics field, such as chemical treatments, skin treatments, hair removal, brow and lash services, makeup application, and skin analysis. **VVC does not currently have a tentative start schedule for this course.

  • What career opportunities will I have with a manicuring license?

    • With your manicuring license, you can pursue a career in nail artistry (a salon manicurist/pedicurist, freelance nail technician, a specialized/highly technical nail artist).

  • Can you go into barbering after cosmetology school?
    • Many students decide to follow up their cosmetology license with their barber license so that they can get more specialized training and cater to a wider clientele base. VVC plans to offer a bridge program in order to accommodate these students as well. (Please refer to the VVC Barbering Crossover program information above.)
