Transfer Requirements

Complete your English & Math requirements as soon as possible. The UC places a high priority on students who complete two transferrable English courses and one transferrable Mathematics course, with a grade of "C" or higher.

Complete lower-division coursework required for your major. Universities show the course requirements for each of the degrees they offer in their catalogs, which can be accessed online. Some universities provide information about articulation by major on www.assist.org. The UC gives high priority to students who complete major coursework early in their academic career. Meet with a counselor and/or university representative to help you plan your course requirements.

Complete a minimum of a 2.4 GPA for California residents, 2.8 GPA for non-residents. UC campuses have designated some highly popular majors as selective, for which students have to meet competitive selection criteria (higher GPAs and minimum course completion requirements) to be admitted.

Along with your English & Math, as well as your major coursework, you are required to complete four courses in at least two of the following areas:

  • Arts & Humanities
  • Social & Behavioral Sciences
  • Physical & Biological Sciences
